Another Dream Come True

In the middle of the plans for my new, little vintage trailer to come home I was blessed with another dream come true! For quite some time I’ve longed for a vintage-style bike like the one I enjoyed so many years ago. Nothing fancy. No gears or handbrakes or fancy-ness! Just a bike I could get on and ride! Over the last months, maybe more, I’ve watched Craigslist, talked to bike shop owners, browsed through bike departments in stores along the way. Often I found exactly what I liked but the advice of family and friends didn’t fit what my heart knew was right for me. Finally, I have exactly what I waited for!

A couple of days ago I decided to check Craigslist for bikes. Again. To be honest, I wasn’t certain I would find anything new since the last time I had looked. But, I was wrong! Oh, so wrong! There she was – the one. Exactly what I wanted. I knew this was worth checking out. One phone call and we had an appointment to see her. The moment we arrived I looked at her and knew this was what I wanted. Within a few minutes she was in our SUV and we were headed toward home.

Dear friends – I’d like you to meet ‘Daisy’.

Bike

Isn’t she beautiful? And she rides like a dream. A dream come true. Soon I plan to add a basket on the front and perhaps some prettiness along the way, too. Oh, and I have a pretty bike helmet, too – light blue with soft yellow and white plaid!

So, my friends, if you stop by to visit and I’m not at home, please don’t worry. I haven’t gone far. I have places to go and people to see!

Today I am meeting a blog friend from far away. She is passing through town on her way to a conference and I get to meet her – and her hubby – today. We’re going to lunch and on a bit of an antiquing excursion. Oh, no, not on my bike! We will go by car and have such fun. I’ll share more about our time together soon.

On Hold

A few days ago I told you I had a dream that was about to come true. That was true then – and it’s true now! I’m still waiting! Plans were in place for my dream to become reality a couple of days ago and I was anxious to tell you all about it. It was hard to wait. But it didn’t happen. Plans had to be changed. For just a bit. Postponed. Still on track but not final yet. I don’t know the exact day my dream will come true but I’m going to tell you more. It wouldn’t be fair to keep you in suspense any longer. Here is a clue. An idea. A little hint until the final reveal can be shared.

Yellow and White Trailer

I’m buying a little, vintage trailer! She doesn’t look exactly like this but she will be yellow and white. And cute. A girl place.

We had planned to bring her home on Saturday but that didn’t happen. So, I’m waiting patiently until she arrives. It will be soon, I know. I can’t wait to introduce her to you! In the meantime, I will continue gathering things and making plans to help her become the wonderful retreat she longs to be. I will share more along the way – I want you to see it all. There’s so much to share!

I have a dream that is about to come true. I will share soon. Very soon. I promise!

Like Father, Like Son

From time to time I’ve shared photos of my son. The son who makes my heart sing – the son who was a precious gift from the Father above (and still is!) I don’t think it’s possible that a mom could more proud of her son than I am of mine. Watching him grow from birth to manhood has brought such joy to my heart. Now watching him be a father to his own children gives cause for pride. To see his love for them and his commitment to spend time with them and watch as he trains them to grow up to be young men who love and serve God often brings tears to my eyes.

I’ve shared photos of my son before. Photos taken during family times and on holidays and photos he sent from afar. This is one of my favorites.

Jeremy and Boys

It was taken about three years ago. Of course the boys have grown and changed. The little guy, Mr. H., is past three now. He is quite a busy boy. A few days ago he decided to draw a portrait of his father. Mr. J. sent the work of art in an email. He wrote:

‘H. wanted to draw a picture of me,
so I had to stand while he was drawing
and this is the portrait he made.’

I couldn’t wait to share it with you – don’t think it looks just like my son?

Hudson's Photo

(I wonder if my son got colored contacts since I last saw him. I don’t remember his eyes being blue and orange! It seems to remind me of a portrait Mr. H’s daddy drew of his own father quite a few years ago. Or was it just yesterday?)

Listening

‘Listening to the still, small voice in your heart
will make hope into a reality.’

Love the sound of His voice in my heart.

Listening. Waiting.

Quietly.
