The Hills Are Alive. . .

With the sound of music.  My all-time favorite musical is ‘The Sound of Music’.  I think I can sing every word by memory.  Recently my sweetheart and I visited a beautiful state park in the mountains between our home and the Oregon Coast.  When we got to this viewpoint at the top of the hill I felt like singing the opening song.  Instead, I took a lot of photos!Mountain View
The hills are alive with the sound of music
With songs they have sung for a thousand years
The hills fill my heart with the sound of music
My heart wants to sing every song it hears

My heart wants to beat like the wings of the birds
That rise from the lake to the trees
My heart wants to sigh like a chime
That flies from a church on a breeze

To laugh like a brook when it trips
And falls over stones on its way
To sing through the night
Like a lark who is learning to pray

I go to the hills when my heart is lonely
I know I will hear what I've heard before
My heart will be blessed with the sound of music
And I'll sing once more

Next month I will be joining several girlfriends from my camping group at this beautiful park.  Please come by Daffodil’s blog to take a peek inside and see how she looked when I took her to a  recent camp-out.  She will look different by the time I take her camping next months - we are working to finish some things before her next trip.  You can go to her blog by clicking on the ‘Daffodil – My Vintage Trailer’ tab at the top of this page.

My Friday Tablescape

BJs Table Some of my blog friends feature wonderful tablescapes on their blogs.  Their tables are beautiful and the food often becomes an artistic part of their settings.  Yesterday, while visiting my dear blog friend, BJ, at Sweet Nothings – and enjoying her tablescape (above) -  I wondered if  you might like to see my lovely dining room table as it is ‘set’ right now.
Tablescape 1 Notice the lovely – rather large – centerpiece.  That’s the end closet wall for my little vintage trailer.  Daffodil is ‘under construction’ and her parts and pieces have been showing up on my dining room table for priming and painting.  Next to the ‘centerpiece’ you will notice the accessories.
Tablescape 2 There’s more.  Lovely table linens and pretty silverware are missing from my table but you will find drop cloths and paint rags, stir sticks and a brush waiting for someone to return to add more paint.
Tablescape 3This is only one of the ‘tablescapes’ in my dining room over the past couple of weeks.  The big closet wall graced my table for a couple of days.  Before that, the upper kitchen cabinets, followed by the lower cabinet made their way into this space.  It was too cold and rainy outside for this project so we brought them inside where it's warm and comfortable.  It makes quite a nice workspace!

Please come back again soon.  Daffodil is changing every day.  She is about to burst into full bloom.  I’ll show you what’s happening early next week.  I think you’ll like what you see!

Daffodil Sightings

If you've been following my blog very long you know I love daffodils!  If not, my story is here.  They are always a sign that Spring is almost here - a new beginning, fresh and bright.  Over the past few weeks we’ve had a lot of changes in our weather. One minute it is pouring rain and just a few minutes later the sun comes out and the sky is blue.Blue SkyNot long ago we had snow on the ground – in February.  Now I know that’s not uncommon in some parts of our continent, but this is Western Oregon and, while it’s not unheard of, it’s a bit unusual most of the time.  Snow was piled high on the little birdbath that’s just outside the double doors in our bedroom.Snowy DayIt was on one of those snowy days that I ventured to the grocery store and I could hardly believe my eyes – right beside the door was a bucket of daffodils!  The price was right and, of course, some of them came home with me.  I put them in a sweet, yellow depression glass vase from my collection.  I loved having them in my kitchen window.  I love the contrast of the Spring flowers and the snow outside the window.Snowy Day DaffodilsNot long after that I had a not-so-good day.  My sweetheart was out and about and when he saw these, he brought them home to brighten my day.  I put them in a new-to-me cobalt blue vase in the kitchen window.  They lifted my spirits and made me smile.Sunny Day DaffodilsAnd then there's Daffodil, my little vintage trailer.  She has been under wraps for the winter.  We had planned to work on her while she was warm and cozy under shelter but that didn’t happen.  When my dear, little mother fell and broke her pelvic bone - with all of the care she needed afterwards – we redirected our focus.  It was as it should be and we have no regrets.  Now that my dear mother doesn’t need constant care, we are beginning to refocus on Daffodil’s restoration.  My sweetheart is outside working on her as I write this post.  I’ve signed up for several campouts with camping girlfriends so we have some deadlines to meet.  There is more structural work than first thought and we know she won’t be completely finished before the first get-away – or even the second - but we have a plan.  Enough will be done for me to sleep inside at first, then we'll make more progress before each of the campouts until she is completely finished.  Inside and out!  She will be a showpiece by the last campout in the Fall.  That's the plan.   I'll share it all with you on her blog, Daffodil's Journey.  Here’s a bit of what she looks like today.Daffodil Restoration - Under Wraps Please come back again soon.  I can’t wait to show you the progress of my little, vintage trailer as she blossoms and blooms and becomes the beautiful Daffodil I know she will be.

Come On Over

DaffodilI'm not here today - I'm out working on my little vintage trailer.  There is a bit of work to be done inside before my sweetheart and I can begin the process of putting Daffodil back together.  He’s working on her exterior today and I’m busy removing the last pieces of interior paneling so the wiring can begin.  Then – very soon – big changes will happen.  It won’t be long now and she is going to start ‘sporting’ a new look!  Don’t worry – you will get to see the whole thing.  Come on over here to see more the first part of Daffodil’s journey.

Daffodil – As She Was

I’m sharing the beginning of Daffodil’s journey with you so you can catch up to what’s happening with her now.  Her transformation journey is picking up speed these days.  But first, you really must see what she looked like when we first brought her home.  As the journey continues you will begin to see where she’s headed.  The photos I’m sharing today won’t give you a clue of the beauty that lies ahead.  Trust me – it will happen.  In the meantime, brace yourself for an astounding tour!  The door will be open when you get there.  Come on over to Daffodil's Journey to see what I mean.P4109313
