Back Again

Joey, my little rascally dog, recently sneaked into my office to tell you that I was having back problems.  Thank you for your good wishes and prayers for my recovery.  I am much better and I’m able to do most of my normal activities again.  At first my doctor thought I had a compression fracture in my back but the good news was that x-rays didn’t show a fracture.  They showed that I have osteo-arthritis in my back so I’m learning to change the way I do some things.  A bone density scan yesterday confirmed that my bones are strong and healthy.  That was good news that gave me peace of mind.  However, I did learn that I’m shorter now than I used to be!

If I had needed a wheelchair during my recovery, I knew exactly which one I should buy.  I could multitask while I was recovering.  When we were at the Oregon Coast for our anniversary weekend last month, we stopped at a little antiques and collectibles store in an old gas station beside the highway.  This was parked near the front door.2012-01-15_13-50-43_105When we saw it, we couldn’t help but smile.  We had to get closer to see this amazing piece of equipment! This was a ‘working’ chair.2012-01-15_13-51-07_845Think  of the lawns you could mow and the things you could do!  The sign on the seat gave more ideas.2012-01-15_13-50-51_411I don’t know if the price included Winnie The Pooh, but we sure would have included him in our bartering - if we had decided to bring this lovely chair home with us.2012-01-15_14-08-44_216Fortunately, I don’t need a wheelchair and I don’t know anyone who does.  If you’re interested, I’d be glad to give you directions to this little shop.  You could head that way to see if this special ‘find’ is still there – waiting for you!

The Greatest Of These

And now these three remain:
faith, hope and love.
But the greatest of these is love.

Something Strange Is Going On!

P2102446
Hi, this is Joey.  My mommy isn’t looking so I decided to let you know what’s going on at our house.  I know my mommy was going to show you what she bought Daffodil (that’s her little vintage trailer, you know).  I think she’s sad that she hasn’t shown you the cute, yellow thing she bought at the flea market.  I really wish she wouldn’t talk about fleas!  It makes me itch every time she says that word!

Something happened to my mommy’s back.  She said it started a long time ago when she was younger.  I thought she was younger now!  Something about a crash with her car and her back hurt then.  I don’t know how it could hurt now if it was as long ago as what I heard her say. And I don’t get it – she seemed fine and then all of a sudden she wasn’t doing very much.  I heard her say ‘Ouch’ a few times when she tried to stand up.  She went to her doctor a few days ago and she has to swallow these little, round, white things in the morning and at night.  I think she calls them pills but once in awhile she calls me a pill and I don’t get it – I don’t look anything like those little things she has now.  I guess they are supposed to make her feel better.  I hope so because I miss going for walks with her.

I’d better go – I think she’s coming!  Hey, do you see my new doggy blanket?  She bought it for me a couple of days before she stopped doing what she always does.  It’s fuzzy and warm and it has dogs and bones all over it.  She put it at the end of her bed where I like to sleep.  Sometimes she thinks I’m asleep but I’m really just pretending.  I’m really looking out the big doors.  Watching for birds and squirrels and cats to bark at!

Junkin’ And Other Delights

Saturday was a gorgeous, sunny day and my sweetheart and I were on a mission.  We wanted to get out of town and spend a bit of time in a beautiful part of our area – time to check out some ‘junk’ and something else.  We heard there were going to be vintage trailers on display at Junk Salvation, a vintage flea market, not far away.  So, we planned our day and away we went.  When we arrived we were greeted by this sign.

We paid our fare (with discount coupons, of course) and walked inside.  Once inside, we asked about the vintage trailers.  We were told there were only two this year – one this way, and one that way.  Off we went to find them.  This little trailer was the first one we found.  She was for sale!

A peek inside was all it took to remind me why I love vintage trailers.  The little kitchen. . .

And the ‘bedroom’.

Cute, huh?  I was so excited I could hardly stand it – I just wanted to go home and start working on my sweet, little Daffodil (updates to come soon about her ‘doings’).

We browsed through the vendor booths and saw such fun things.  Just a short while later we found the other vintage trailer – and, oh my!  What a sweet, little trailer.  She belongs to one of my ‘Sisters’ from Sisters On The Fly.  We had a personal tour and learned a lot of information about the work they had done on this cute, little Shasta trailer.  In the middle of all the fun I forgot to take a picture of my Sister and her trailer.  Too much excitement!  So, I ‘borrowed’ a picture from FaceBook.  (Don’t tell anyone, please.)  Just wanted you to see her.
Sweet Shasta
I loved the view through the front window  - she's so inviting.

The back is so cute, too.  She drew a lot of attention.
P2042442
And the inside?  Oh – I didn’t want to leave!  I wanted to see every little nook and cranny.  Didn't want to miss a thing!

The little kitchen at the front of the trailer is the same style as mine and I was thrilled get an idea of how sweet Daffodil will be when her kitchen has been put back together.  Isn’t this just about the cutest, little kitchen?
P2042436
This sweet, little stove is exactly like mine.  I can hardly wait until my stove is ready to use!  Can’t you just imagine the aroma of cookies baking?  Or, hot muffins just out of the oven on a crisp and cool morning?P2042437The most fun I had at the flea market was meeting Sisters-On-The-Fly Sisters and seeing blog friends and vendors I know.  It was a reunion of sorts.  What a great place to have a reunion.

Oh, by the way – I bought something for Daffodil!  Just a peek, OK?  Tomorrow you can see more!
P2062445
I know – that’s not very nice of me, is it?

(If you’d like to see more of the flea market, Girl In Pink has some awesome photos – including a peek at the door of the cute, little vintage trailer that captured my heart!)

Limited Vision

PC052068
We don't yet see things clearly.
We're squinting in a fog, peering through a mist.
But it won't be long before the weather clears
and the sun shines bright!
We'll see it all then,
see it all as clearly as God sees us,
knowing him directly just as he knows us!
