At The Corner Of My Porch

We have a Butterfly Bush near the corner of our front porch. It has been there for about 3 years but I have never seen butterflies near this bush until this summer. A few days ago I looked out the window of my little office and there was a beautiful creature busy at work on the flowers of my plant. I picked up my camera and quietly slipped outside. I was amazed how close I was able to get before this little 'friend' gently moved to another flower.
Yesterday while riding in the car, this little song from my son and daughter's childhood years came to mind.
If I were a butterfly,
I'd thank You Lord for giving me wings.
If I were a robin in a tree,
I'd thank You Lord that I could sing.
If I were a fish in the sea,
I'd wiggle my tail and I'd giggle with glee,
But I just thank You Father for making me, me.
For you gave me a heart and you gave me a smile,
You gave me Jesus and you made me your child,
And I just thank you Father for making me, me.

Song: If I Were A Butterfly

  1. This is my first visit your lovely, peaceful site. I found it very interesting and uplifting, and I thank you for it. I like the way your refer to your mother as "my dear mother." My mother is dying of lung cancer and it breaks my heart to see her go, even though I know she will rest in the arms of our Savior then. Keep up the good work.

  2. What incredibly beautiful pictures of that butterfly! They are so pretty. There was a really nice butterfly bush outside my kitchen window that belonged to our neighbors. I came home one day this spring and it was gone. My neighbor said that he was tired of mowing around it, so he just cut it down. So disappointing!
    Have a beautiful day!

  3. My little boy charmed me into taking him to breakfast at 1 AM here in California. It even gave me opportunity to secretly pay for a senior citizen who was quietly having breakfast. I came home and just wasn't that tired. So, I decided to check my new blog. Then, for kicks, I entered my blog name into Google to see how many search results it would bring up. (A little scary to see how something so new is being documented.) Through the course of things, I decided to check-out newer blogs and was I delighted to find yours! I love the Christ-centered music, your photos, and the beautiful poem! I will be back!

    Best Blessings, kj

  4. I have a buddlia too, just outside the window by the computer. I love watching all the butterflies on it now. Have you seen hummingbirds too? I have one that seems to love it as much as the butterflies.

  6. I just stumbled upon your blog today, and I am so glad that I did! Your pics and posts are lovely. The music is so soothing. I agree with Peggy. This really is a "lovely, peaceful site." And what a wonderful, sweet, Christ-like spirit you have! I will be visiting often. Thank you for brightening up my day.

If you don't mind, I'm going to add your site to my list of "Sugar, Spice, and Everything Nice" on my blog. I just can't keep something this wonderful a secret!

  8. What a peaceful place. My family needs this peace so much right now. The whole family is in turmoil...satan is at work bigtime in our family, which just continuously is falling apart little by little. My husband and I will celebrate our 49th wedding anniversary this year and should be able to relax and enjoy our last years on Earth, but, there are possibly some family members who are working to ensure this will not be...and therefore, I firmly believe my husband and I will not enjoy our last years here, having worked hard all our lives to provide for our family and now helping our grandchildren and great-grandchildren as they need help...but I must say reading here at your site has given me a little bit of peace today. Thank you and I look forward to returning often....even if it is to reread your posts over and over. Thank you so much and GOD BLESS YOU! From a silver-haired Nana in Texas.
