A Very Special Day

P1239094

Today is a day to celebrate! It’s a very special day – it’s the day my dear, little mother is eighty-eight years old. She is proud to arrive at this point in her life so I know she won’t mind me telling you her age.

I have been very blessed to have a mother who loves me dearly and doesn’t hesitate to tell me. But most of all, she loves the her Heavenly Father. She still teaches two Bible Studies in her home each week. She is involved in the lives of quite a few people and she often prays with and counsels women on the phone. I tease her that I almost have to make an appointment to see her!

Today she wants to do some thrifting and tonight we will enjoy a family dinner in her honor. You may remember that my dear mother has not been well and I am so happy to share her good news with you. She is feeling better and gradually regaining strength. This week we learned that her vision has improved enough that she can drive again. Her ophthalmologist is pleased with her healing from cataract surgery and he isn’t sure whether or not she will need the other eye ‘done’. She is waiting for new lenses and will see if the other eye is affecting her or if she is improved enough that she doesn’t need to have another surgery. We are thanking God for His touch on her.

Here’s a little song I’ll sing to my dear, little mother today. It’s a song I learned in Sunday School and I love the wishes it conveys. I sing it to her every year.

A happy birthday to you,
A happy birthday to you.
Every day of the year
May you find Jesus near.
A happy birthday to you,
A happy birthday to you
And the best year you’ve ever had.

What more could I wish for her? I am blessed. And grateful. So grateful.

With a grateful heart,
~Adrienne~
